REAL WEDDING FEATURE
When Maeve Madden and Andrew Selby tied the knot at Adare Manor in Ireland, their wedding was a masterclass in modern romance—fashion-forward style combined with a timeless decadence made these celebrations worthy of the pages of a glossy editorial publication.
From the moment Maeve first laid eyes on Adare Manor’s grand ballroom in 2018, she knew this was where they would mark these unforgettable celebrations. As Maeve walked through the ballroom’s doors with her father, she whispered to him, “One day, I’ll get married here.” It was a vision that came to life in the most spectacular way. When Andrew echoed her sentiments during their early days of dating, the pair’s future seemed to align perfectly with the venue’s grandeur.
The beginnings…
Maeve, a best-selling author and fitness entrepreneur, and Andrew, who helms a thriving talent management agency in London, had paths that unknowingly crossed for years before their official introduction. It was in December 2016 that Andrew, in search of fresh talent for his agency, reached out to Maeve. She was already carving a niche for herself as a commercial model in London, with a growing social media presence. What began as a professional connection soon blossomed into a deep friendship, and by the time they realized their bond was far more than professional, a year had passed.
The proposal
The proposal was as enchanting as it was unexpected. On a crisp New Year’s Day, Andrew planned a walk to Rostrevor, an area steeped in the magic that inspired the Narnia books. Despite his best efforts to make the occasion a private one, Maeve insisted on bringing along their dog, an unexpected but beloved participant in what would become one of the most memorable moments of their lives. They trekked up the mountain to a spot known as Kodak Corner, where the view over Carlingford Lough stretched out to the sea. There, under the pretense of taking a photograph, Andrew set up his tripod, only to capture a video of the moment he dropped to one knee. The dog, of course, couldn’t resist joining in the excitement, jumping all over them both, adding a touch of comedy to the romance.
The Engagement
Their engagement spanned 18 months, a time filled with anticipation and careful planning. Although Maeve’s father’s illness led to an intimate legal ceremony at Marylebone Town Hall in London the December before, the couple remained steadfast in their dream of a grand celebration at Adare Manor.
“Their prayers were answered when, after what felt like an eternity at Dublin Airport’s baggage claim, the dress emerged unscathed.”
The journey to the wedding day wasn’t without its hurdles, and Maeve’s experience with her wedding dress became a tale of determination and ingenuity. After finding her dream gown in London, she faced the daunting task of transporting it to Ireland. The dress, a masterpiece from Zuhair Murad, was too large for standard luggage dimensions, and the thought of checking it in the hold was terrifying. Sleepless with worry, Maeve and her mother ultimately packed the gown into an oversized suitcase, praying for its safe arrival. Their prayers were answered when, after what felt like an eternity at Dublin Airport’s baggage claim, the dress emerged unscathed.
A Day of Regal Elegance
The wedding day’s theme was a reflection of Maeve and Andrew’s shared vision: regal, opulent, and timelessly elegant. Under the expert guidance of their wedding planner, Lindsay from House of Hannah, every detail was meticulously curated. The ballroom, adorned with floral arrangements by Harris & Wilkinson, was a sensory delight, filled with the intoxicating scent of fresh blooms and the warm glow of blush candlelight. At the center of it all stood their seven-tier wedding cake, a towering confection surrounded by a lavish floral display, embodying the day’s luxurious theme. A magnificent creation by the talented Una from 2210 Patisserie.
The Magic in the Details
One of the most cherished moments for the couple was when Lindsay gave them a private viewing of the ballroom before the guests arrived. The sight took their breath away, with Maeve exclaiming, “I can’t quite believe this is my wedding.” The room was a dream come true, a vision brought to life that far exceeded anything they had imagined.
UnforgettableMoments
The day was filled with moments that will forever be etched in their memories. For Maeve, slipping into her second dress, a sparkling Berta gown from Verona Bridal, and taking to the dance floor was an exhilarating experience. The dress shimmered under the lights, adding to the party’s vibrant atmosphere. For Andrew, the anticipation of seeing Maeve walk down the aisle was almost unbearable, especially after the unexpected rain and a broken-down coach had delayed the ceremony. But as the choir began their rendition of Ave Maria and Maeve finally appeared, her radiant smile made the wait worthwhile.
A Day to Remember
In the end, despite the rain, the wardrobe malfunctions, and the logistical hiccups, Maeve and Andrew’s wedding day was everything they had hoped for and more. They took time to savor the moments, to enjoy each other’s company, and to let the magic of the day wash over them. As they reflect on their wedding at Adare Manor, it is with smiles and the knowledge that they shared the most memorable day of their lives in the most spectacular venue, surrounded by the love and joy of their family and friends.
